6 ways to spoil yourself this valentines day

by Her Vision Team

Hey babes welcome back to the blog,

Valentine's Day is almost here, I’m sure you already know. It’s the most loved up day of the year, but for some of us, it doesn’t mean anything. I’ve been with my boyfriend for about two years now and for us, Valentine’s Day can either be quite special or completely boring. I don't mean boring in a bad way but it's just a day where we don't do anything. I guess I'm specifically aiming towards the pandemic because this will be our third year celebrating lol. But I have to admit I do love Valentine’s Day. I love when in middle school when all my friends and I brought each other our favorite candy. I also love the thought of embracing our fave romance one this one day of the year. Unfortanuelty, this year, I’ve not really made an effort (sorry babe!) but lately I am feeling like loving yourself is the best gift you can give on Valentine’s Day – for sure!

I think it’s cooler to celebrate the love you have for yourself! Whether you’re loved up or not, there’s no boyfriend required in telling yourself you’re damn fine and killing it every day! So if you’re thinking of swerving all the lovey-dovey nonsense this, here are a few Vision Babe approved ways to treat yourself this year that I 100% RECOMMEND!

1. Create a bath fit for a queen

If anyone deserves to bathe like a queen, it’s you. So don’t just throw in any old bubble bath, set yourself up for the best bath you’ve ever had. Every inch of you deserves a pamper, so start from the top and work your way down. My favorite shower ritual involves my favorite body exfoliator ( scrub) and moisturizing cream body wash, which really does make your skin super soft when you get out!) When it comes to taking baths I do love bath bubbles and listening music. Those are my most common rituals while I've never tried the candle lights, bath bombs, or face masks I do hear they are amazing forms of self care and having you feel really right after.

You can even get yourself this bath tray from Urban Outfitters and spend some time reading a good book while you soak. Enjoy it and be a little extra – you deserve it!

2. Put on comfortable clothes or PJ's

Once you’re done pampering yourself, get dressed in a special comfy matching set or satin nightie. No outfit is complete without a spritz of perfume and a pair of fuzzy socks or slippers; these are essential for the occasion.

3. Order or cook something special

Valentine’s Day is absolutely an excuse to step away from your regimented meal plan. Order in from your favorite restaurant (make sure you arrange this early as takeout demand will probably be high) or cook a really nice dinner. Brush up on your quarantine baking skills by making a fun Valentine’s Day dessert too. Don’t forget to crack open a nice bottle of champagne. You have overcome a lot since last Valentine’s Day, and that is something worth celebrating!

4. Paint your nails and watch a movie

No self-care routine is complete without a mani-pedi in front of a movie. Fortunately, the romance genre is full of many different approaches, so you can always find a flick that’s right for every mood. If you’re craving passion and drama, try Netflix’s new Malcolm & Marie. Feel like crying? That’s OK too, A Walk to Remember and The Fault in Our Stars usually get the job done. For stories of love and friendship that will keep you laughing watch Sex and the City: The Movie. And if you’re just looking for a series that is both modern and relatable, try To All the Boys trilogy ( my all time favorite! 1000% recommend.)

5. Write a letter to your future self

In the spirit of self-love, write a love letter to the person who should matter most – you. You either write yourself a note and keep it for the future or use this site called Future Me . I had just recently heard of this site through another blog who have a really great review on it. This is a site where you can write a letter to yourself and ask some yourself some questions one how far you've come. You can schedule and have it to land into your inbox. I'm definitely going write myself one before senior years. I think it'll be so amazing to read that a year from now and see how much I've grown. Just thinking about it I wonder if when I receive that email I'll have such nostalgia .

This is your chance to really think about what you want for yourself from the future, and the questions you’d want to ask yourself. You’ll forget about it and then in the future – a nice surprise will remind you of where you were and how far you’ve come.

6. Spread the love around

Give yourself a Valentine’s Day boost by picking up the phone and dialing a number. Whether it’s your grandparents, your best friend, or your parents. Ask them what they’re up to and give them a boost of love. You can make someone’s day just by remembering them and reaching out. Do something nice for someone just because you can. Send flowers to your loved ones, give your sister access to your Netflix account. You won’t regret it.

I’d love to know what you girls are up to this Valentine’s Day. Do you love or hate the day?
Let me know in the comments…

xoxo Raegan
